The classroom of the future will need to incorporate Hybrid Education. This practice requires educators to meet the needs of their students through face-to-face interactions while incorporating an online component. While many educational buildings have begun to incorporate this practice, educators will need to be trained to utilize both of these components effectively within their classroom. As it is difficult to educate students utilizing techniques that were not in use when the educator was within the classroom, continuous learning will be key.
This group acknowledges that teachers can not teach what they do not yet understand. Thus, we would recommend that professional development opportunities be made available for teachers regarding "Hybrid Education." While we do call for increased education for educators, the medium for this training must vary, keeping in mind the time crunch that most educators find themselves in. Between planning and grading, most educators struggle within a traditional, brick and mortar curriculum. Thus, this team advocates for the modular curriculum of webinars. Through the use of an online training program, educators are able to pick and choose the sessions they attend and WHEN they attend them. In this way, teachers will be capable of continuing their education while continuing the day-to-day responsibilities of all educators.
Currently Education Weekly, is offering a webinar for teachers focusing on Hybrid Education. Teachers have the option to attend the webinar as it is being streamed or view the recording at a later time. Again, this team recognizes the necessity of this type of flexibility for educators.
